BLACK!Feminist!FREE!
5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Detroit Center for Black Studies invites you to join us for a lecture led by Dr. Beverly Guy-Sheftall. The event will take place at the Walter P. Ruether Library.
Light refreshments will be provided during the book signing following the lecture.
BLACK!Feminist!FREE! gathers Beverly Guy-Sheftall's most influential essays, speeches, and interviews into a single volume, revealing the depth and range of her contributions. Moving from early reflections on race, gender, and class to contemporary analyses of sexuality, reproductive justice, and global Black feminist solidarity, the collection testifies to her enduring commitment to liberation. With scholarly rigor and insurgent clarity, Guy-Sheftall confronts the silencing of Black women, the policing of Black female sexuality, systemic violence, and the transformative potential of intersectional coalitions-illuminating a feminism rooted in Black women's experiences.
