Barber-Naik Endowed Lecture in Interdisciplinary Physics
All are welcome to attend the fifth annual Richard Barber and Ratna & Vaman Naik Endowed Lecture in Interdisciplinary Physics presented by Professor Thomas Bortfeld on Thursday, Nov 19, 2026. A reception at 3:00 pm will precede the lecture at 3:30 pm in the Bernath Auditorium of the WSU David Adamany Undergraduate Library.
Over the past 25 years, Prof. Bortfeld has served as a professor at Harvard Medical School, Chief of the Division of Radiation Biophysics, and Chief of Physics. He recently became the Senior Director of Medical Physics Innovation and Technology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. His lecture will highlight how he has integrated nuclear physics, medical physics, and technological innovation to advance proton therapy for cancer treatment.
