Session Overview

This presentation explores the often-overlooked experiences of high-functioning individuals, particularly men of color, who have been shaped by intergenerational trauma, attachment disruption, and emotional neglect. The presenters will discuss how trauma can manifest in subtle ways, such as perfectionism, self-abandonment, and relational difficulties, and challenge traditional notions of trauma that prioritize overt dysfunction. By integrating trauma-informed and culturally responsive perspectives, the session will focus on the importance of witnessing and validation in supporting authentic healing and connection. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to recognize and address hidden trauma in their clients and cultivate practices that promote presence, validation, and self-witnessing.

3. Discover self-witnessing as a clinically relevant and ethically grounded practice for both practitioners and clients.
