First Fridays in Anthropology: Dr. Felicia George, When Detroit Played the Numbers
This event is in the past.
3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
This event will celebrate the new book by Dr. Felicia George (Ph.D., Anthropology, WSU, 2015), "When Detroit Played the Numbers: Gambling's History and Cultural Impact on the Motor City" (2024, WSU Press). This book is a terrific chance to gain an anthropological and historical perspective on a vibrant element of social life in Detroit and to learn from one of our distinguished alumni and part-time faculty members. Following Dr. George's talk, there will be an in-person reception.
This event will be held in person and via Zoom (registration is required).
First Fridays are inviting, accessible, introductions to anthropological research, with a focus on the significance of anthropology for the public. Invite your colleagues, friends and family — these talks are meant to be accessible to a broad audience.
