The department of Anthropology will be joined by the History department for their First Fridays in Anthropology event this month, featuring science journalist David Malakoff. Malakoff is a veteran journalist and former editor on NPR’s Science Desk, and writes frequently about archaeology. This workshop will explain how to communicate your work with non-scholarly audiences, from journalists and policymakers to your neighbors and the local Rotary Club. Learn how to think about your audience, and how to distill your message -- without dumbing it down.

Attendees are encouraged (but not required) to bring a piece of writing to the workshop that could be edited for a public audience.
