Advancing ADEI in STEMM Organizations interactive dialogue: an introduction
This event is in the past.
Noon to 1 p.m.
Zoom
Join us for an engaging conversation series about issues that impact ADEI. Wayne State University will explore of “Advancing Antiracism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in STEMM Organizations: Beyond Broadening Participation,” an exciting new report produced by the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine. This thoughtful, well-researched report (to which former WSU President M. Roy Wilson contributed) identifies systemic barriers and offers recommendations on dismantling policies and practices that disadvantages people from minoritized groups in STEMM organizations. A University Library System group is involving other campus partners in responding to themes and sections of this report’s data and recommendations.
Prior familiarity with the “Advancing ADEI in STEMM” report isn’t necessary to join us in learning and sharing information, although you can read the Library’s e-copy here: https://elibrary.wayne.edu/record=b7140952~S47. RSVP for a chance to win a copy of the book!
This first session will introduce the report, its purpose, objectives and the journey ahead of us as we explore the book and engage in meaningful dialogue. Put your existing ADEI knowledge to the test in an interactive, escape room-style immersive experience that will challenge your current understanding of various concepts.
Light refreshments will be available.
