Please join us for a special presentation with Cinematographer Michelle Crenshaw, Media Artist in Residence and holder of the Fall 2017 Bob Allison (Allesee) Endowed Chair in Media. Crenshaw’s public presentation will trace the trajectory of her career as she and her students demonstrate the impact of camera and light; transforming a three dimensional scene to a two-dimensional screen.

A native of Detroit, Crenshaw resides in Los Angeles where she freelances on features, episodic television and documentaries. Her recent Cinematographer credits include the independent thriller, As Evil Does, currently in post-production; Bridging The Divide: Tom Bradley and the Politics of Race, released and aired in 2015/16 on PBS; and The New Black, which premiered at the 2014 LA Film Festival and aired on the PBS series Independent Lens. She is currently a Camera Operator for the Netflix series The Ranch, working with an Emmy award winning Director of Photography. Prior to operating, she assisted other Directors of Photography on numerous productions including TNTʼs hit cable series The Closer, the NBC series American Dreams, ABC’s NYPD Blue, Love Jones, Grumpier Old Men and Eyes On The Prize II, to name a few. Crenshaw is an active member of the International Cinematographers Guild as a seated board member elected by members of the guild. She is a graduate of the Film program at Columbia College in Chicago.
