A near total solar eclipse is coming to Detroit on Monday April 8. The maximum eclipse will be at 3:14 p.m. with about 99.5% of the Sun blocked by the Moon. The partial eclipse starts at 1:58 p.m. and continues until 4:27 p.m.
The Department of Physics & Astronomy will have solar telescopes for the community to safely view the sun at the following locations from 3 - 3:30pm:
- The "W" statue located at the intersection of 2nd and Warren Avenues
- In front of Old Main, located at 4841 Cass Ave.
- The fountain on Gullen Mall
