Dr. Yukuo Wang, professor of English at Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, received his Ph.D. in China for the study of Toni Morrison’s fiction. He has a special interest in African American literature and literary criticism and has published more than 40 articles in this field. A new book, “The Study of the 20th Century African American Literary Criticism” will come out soon.
This talk attempts to trace the introduction, translation and research of African American literature in China, and foregrounds its historical significance and social value in opposition to the discriminations and injustice in general, and its universal commitment in particular.
