Sciences & Humanities Under the Dome

Lessons from Alleys and Cabbage Fields: From Detroit to Kaunas and Back Again

Presented by Dr. Paul Draus (University of Michigan Dearborn, Dept. of Sociology)

Dr. Paul Draus is a professor of sociology at the University of Michigan's Dearborn campus. Starting his career as a public health worker, Dr. Draus has expanded his research into a variety of issues surrounding urban communities, from green infrastructure to substance abuse issues. He recently had the opportunity to spend time as a Fulbright Scholar in Kaunas, Lithuania, where he explored the urban sociological landscape of a post-Soviet city. In his talk, Dr. Draus will discuss his research in Detroit and Kaunas, and how these two cities share similarities but also show unique localized developments in their communities.

Sciences & Humanities Under the Dome is a free public lecture series supported by the Rita & Stanley Levy & Ratna & Vaman Naik Endowment. We welcome all members of the community to join us in the planetarium for these research lectures! Light refreshments will be provided.

ATTN: We have Solar Eclipse Glasses! Suggested donation of $1 per pair, maximum 10 pairs per patron. Only available just before and after planetarium events on our calendar.
