We are pleased to invite the campus community and colleagues to Wayne State University’s Center for Emerging and Infectious Diseases (CEID)'s webinar series on addressing vaccine hesitancy. Developed by CEID, this accredited webinar series equips healthcare professionals with evidence-based, practical communication strategies and techniques to effectively address patient concerns and confusion regarding vaccines.
Session one will take place from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, via Zoom.
Session one features Dr. Amanda Sams Bradshaw, assistant professor of integrated marketing communications in the School of Journalism and New Media at The University of Mississippi. Her work includes studies into vaccine hesitancy and maternal health decision making derived from social network content and peer-to-peer social network interactions
This session provides a general overview and orientation to the factors associated with vaccine questioning and hesitancy. It will present the primary models used for promoting productive conversations to address questions and concerns. Topics Include the history and nature of vaccine hesitancy, understanding factors in vaccine questioning, an introduction to the Vaccine Hesitancy Board, and core communication techniques such as presumptive method, active reflective listening, information deficit, and fear appeals.
