Wayne State University celebrates the hallmark of Black freedom through the holiday of Juneteenth. In accordance with the University's recognition of Juneteenth, there will be a host of events and activities and some hosted by partner organizations within the city of Detroit, starting with this opening celebration.

We invite you to engage in your own personal learning of the continued struggle and plight of Black communities within Detroit and across the United States. Juneteenth is a unifying holiday; it forces us to look at where we are as a nation and what we can do to progress forward.
