Juneteenth Celebration: Kickoff with "Fork in Nigeria"
This event is in the past.
Wayne State University celebrates the hallmark of Black freedom through the holiday of Juneteenth. In accordance with the University's recognition of Juneteenth, there will be a host of events and activities taking place across campus and in the city of Detroit, starting with an opening celebration on June 13th at 2:00 p.m..

We invite you to engage in your own personal learning of the continued struggle and plight of Black communities within Detroit and across the United States. Juneteenth is a unifying holiday; it forces us to take an honest look at where we are as a nation and what we can do to progress forward.
The first 50 Wayne State University students, staff, and faculty who submit this form will receive a $15.00 food voucher to Fork in Nigeria (UPDATED 6/10 - there are no more available spots for the vouchers). Vouchers will be emailed to your wayne.edu account and will be valid from Sunday June 13th - Saturday June 19th, 2021.
Fork in Nigeria is located at 19228 Livernois, Detroit, MI 48221. Along with your emailed voucher, please bring your state or WSU ID.
While we no longer have free vouchers, we encourage you to find time to go purchase food from Fork in Nigeria and support a WSU alumnus!
If you have any questions, please contact Akelah Reese at firstname.lastname@example.org.
