Pathologists' Assistant Program Diversity Initiative: Dr. Miriam Hadj-Moussa on Transgender Surgery
This event is in the past.
Dr. Hadj-Moussa is an Assistant Professor of Urology at the University of Michigan and her clinical interests encompasses a range of urological issues as well as gender affirming surgeries.
She will be speaking to us on the basics of transgender "bottom" surgery, which encompasses gender affirming surgeries for transgender people in regard to the reproductive organs, urethra, and external genitalia.
The Pathologists' Assistant Program Diversity Initiative was founded in the wake of the George Floyd protests of 2020 as a small group of PAA students who sought a safe space during such a difficult time to discuss issues of diversity, race, equity, and inclusion. Along with our open-floor style discussions, the officers of the Initiative also began to invite and host guest speakers to provide awareness, education, and exposure to topics that are not often encountered in program courses or standard medical education. We have hosted a variety of speakers to present on topics such as disability awareness, intersectionality, diversity in the funeral profession, and transgender missing persons research.
