You know what the perfect use for all of our new found Spring energy is? DANCING

Detroit Disability Power wants to change the world and we believe there are a lot of ways to do that. Along with the grueling but necessary work we do to dismantle ableism, there must also be fun! Feminist writer and activist Emma Goldman is often quoted as saying, "If I can't dance, I don't want to be part of your revolution."  And while I'm totally down for that, apparently, she may not have actually said it. However, she did say " I want freedom, the right to self-expression, everybody’s right to beautiful, radiant things.”  That's us, friends. We have the right to self-expression, to be beautiful and radiant and to express that with our hearts and minds and through our bodies, however they may work.

That's why we're having a free Dance-Ability workshop on Saturday, June 8th from 11:30-1:30 at Light Box Studio, a venue that's accessible and intentional about disability inclusion located at 8641 Linwood. We'll have ASL interpreters, a certified Dance-Ability instructor, snacks, and a whole lotta fun. No dance experience required. No disability required.
