For 25 years, the Institute of Gerontology has partnered with the University of Michigan to engage the community in improving the health of older adults. The Healthier Black Elders Center (HBEC) is part of that initiative, created to help Detroit’s older African Americans age successfully. The HBEC is a strength-based program that provides free educational events, newsletters and health screenings while encouraging older Black adults to help with research that could improve health as people age.

Move and groove at the Senior & Caregiver Resource Network fundraiser on Nov. 7, while your contribution supports better health for Detroit’s older adults.

Cost is $85 per ticket, dinner, drinks and entertainment included. Tickets provide funds for the non-profit HBEC to host 2,000 older adults in 2025. HBEC is a program of the Institute of Gerontology at Wayne State.
