In 2016, the Healthy Urban Waters program was asked to host and improve the data network which had been established through federal funding in 2007 to provide early warning of chemical spills or contamination that may impact the source of drinking water along the Huron to Erie corridor. The platform described here provides the water quality data that was collected in the Drinking Water Monitoring Network and also additional environmental and water quality projects in Southeast Michigan. In particular, this presentation provides an example application as related to healthy urban beaches through Escherichia Coli detections along beaches of the corridor.

Speaker: Carol Miller, Ph.D.
Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Wayne State University
Director, WSU Healthy Urban Waters
