Do you know about the Industrial and Systems Engineering program within the College of Engineering? Ranked the highest engineering program at Wayne State by U.S. News and World Report Rankings, the ISE discipline provides students with a well-rounded, multi-disciplinary set of skills that best-prepare them for the workforce.

We know choosing a specific discipline is difficult. For undecided students, ISE offers significant flexibility.

In ISE, we work on a wide range of problems that span across manufacturing analytics, healthcare, drone management, virtual and mixed reality, robotics, supply chain, energy systems, and business analytics. Our graduates work in many different sectors as data analysts, consultants, manufacturing engineers, quality and reliability managers, and many others.

Our diverse program provides tools and methods that apply to numerous disciplines.

Industrial Engineers model and analyze systems to make them more profitable, efficient, and resilient. Our curriculum uses data to predict the future (stock market prices, bottlenecks in a manufacturing system, etc.) and optimize our actions (selecting best investment portfolio, redirecting flow to prevent clogging, and more).

Our small class sizes promise an individualized, engaging experience for each student.

The ISE faculty expertise extends from big data analytics to virtual reality. Our close-knit community encourages conversations and perspectives from across manufacturing, allowing holistic learning opportunities for students.

Dr. Murat Yildirim will serve as presenter and discussion moderator. Joining him will be Dr. Evrim Dalkiran, Undergraduate Program Director and Gail Evans-Hoze, Academic Advisor. Along with our Faculty & Staff, we have 4 ISE students joining:

  • Heba Al-Hassan, 3rd Year IE Student, VP of IISE Student Chapter & VP SWE

  • Aseel Faddah, BS IE '19 & MS Engineering Management '20

  • Brittany Felder, BS IE '20 & MS IE '21 (expected)

  • Alaa Maki, BS IE '19 & MS Engineering Management '19, Operations Engineer at Ampro Innovations

If you enjoy looking at complex systems and simplifying solutions, want to make a difference and would like to have choices in your career path, please join us on Thursday, November 19, at 12 p.m. EST to learn more about the Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) program and future opportunities for students. Register now: link.
