The Office of the Vice President for Research is pleased to offer the Research Development seminar series for WSU faculty, chairs & directors, postdoctoral trainees & graduate students, and administrators. Seminars are free but registration is required.

This informational Webinar, Google Cloud for Research: NIH STRIDES – NSF CloudBank, will take place on Thursday, June 10th, 2021 from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm.

Both the NIH and NSF support research projects that generate tremendous amounts of data. Much of this research data has traditionally been stored and made available to the broader community through public repositories or at local institutions. This model, however, has become strained and hard to sustain as the amount of data generated in these rigorous research projects continues to grow. Wayne State University recently partnered with a Google Cloud provider as part of the NIH initiative Science and Technology Research Infrastructure for Discovery, Experimentation, and Sustainability (STRIDES), which addresses the problems of data storage and accessibility by harnessing the power of the Google Cloud in support of NIH biomedical research. The NSF has also created CloudBank to support computer science researchers and educators using Google Cloud and other public clouds and focuses special allocations for specific projects/programs to utilize cloud services.

We invite all WSU researchers to attend this webinar to learn more about Google Cloud services, presentations by WSU faculty about their research using Google Cloud, and how to use these services for your research through NIH and NSF funding programs.

Please click the RSVP above; register using your WSU email or AccessID. The Zoom link will be sent to registrants ~24 hours prior to the seminar.
