Abstract

Engineering teams at Eversource Energy routinely perform inspections of transmission and distribution systems. As these inspections are typically time-consuming and labor-intensive, digital tools can play a vital role in optimizing the process, improving the efficiency and accuracy of the output, and providing valuable suggestions for maintenance. At Eversource, we have developed multiple tools to assist the process of device inspection and asset management, including asset health indices and a digital platform to support inspection activities by utilizing advanced data analytics, image recognition, and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms.

Brief Biography

Dr. Junhui Zhao is the Manager of Advanced Engineering Analytics with Eversource Energy, Berlin, CT, USA, where he leads efforts to explore and demonstrate the applications of big data and AI technologies in power systems. Before joining Eversource, he was an Associate Professor with tenure at the University of New Haven, CT, USA. He received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Wayne State University, Detroit, USA, in 2014.
