The Center for the Study of Citizenship will host the fourth annual Civic Festival and Constitution Day on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the Fountain Court at Wayne State University. This free public festival celebrates the signing of the US Constitution in 1787, and civic engagement.

Through music, DJ Peter Croce uses sound to explore what it means to be a human being and a citizen in the 21st Century. The Henry Ford and The Wright Museum will bring artifacts and its curators will be there to answer questions and to discuss the significance of the artifacts and students will have opportunities to learn about campus civic engagement. Faculty and students of the James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and Art History will offer interactive art projects, and the League of Women Voters will be present to register new voters. Bridge Magazine is bringing their Truth Wagon, and Voters Not Politicians will be there to discuss the Anti-Gerrymandering Initiative.

As a special event, the Center will be hosting a US Naturalization Ceremony from 2 to 3pm during the Festival. The ceremony will be organized by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services OfficeThe Hon. Mark Goldsmith, Federal District Court Judge for the Eastern District will preside at the ceremony and will swear in those new citizens. We invite you to witness this moving ceremony.
