Title:  On adjunctions in equivariant stable homotopy theory

Abstract:

Functors such as fixed points, geometric fixed points, and restrictions, are central to equivariant stable homotopy theory, as are the duality relations among them. Many of these familiar functors turn out to have not-so-familiar adjoints. In this talk, I wil discuss some chains of adjoint functors between categories of equivariant spectra, including examples such as a chain of two right adjoints to the geometric fixed points functor. Another unexpected example is a chain of 6 or 7 adjoint functors involving the restriction functor. (joint work with I. Kriz and P. Somberg) _________
