The Institute of Geronotology (IOG) and Merrill Palmer Skillman Institute (MPSI) 2021 Research Colloquia & Professional Development Series is pleased to present:

Lauren Mangus, PhD, LP, NCSP, Asst. Prof.
College of Education, Wayne State University, Detroit, MI

The pandemic took 2020 by quite a storm for individuals, families, and communities across the entire lifespan.  Schools, workplaces, households, and other community settings have had to make dramatic shifts in behaviors, while also coping with the psychological and emotional challenges of such changes during this ongoing crisis.  Self-care and other ways to promote resiliency have been so vital with both acute and ongoing responses to such difficulties. Participants attending this workshop will learn about self-care and promoting resiliency.  In addition, participants will learn how to engage in self-care practices and learn how to apply self-care to themselves, as well as with others within the community.

Lauren Mangus, PhD, LP, NCSP is as Assistant Professor-Clinical and the Program Director of the School & Community Psychology Program at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Previously, she worked as a school psychologist in the Metro-Detroit area for over a decade. Her research and applied interests include risk and protective factors, MTSS, consultation, self-efficacy and motivation, school climate and belongingness, and self-care. In addition to her university responsibilities, she provides psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and families in Metro-Detroit. She is also currently President-Elect of the Michigan Association of School Psychologists (MASP).

Free and open to all.
