Please join us on Monday, February 5th @ 12PM for a webinar seminar with NSIN Regional Engagement Principal, Marvin D. Yates for an overview of the National Security Innovation Network mission including resources, programs, and engagement opportunities to support the development of emerging technologies related to defense and national security applications. 

The National Security Innovation Network (NSIN) is an unrivaled problem-solving network in the U.S. Department of Defense that adapts to the emerging needs of those who serve in the defense of our national security. The NSIN is dedicated to the work of bringing together defense, academic and entrepreneurial innovators to solve national security problems in new ways.

Mr. Marvin D. Yates will provide a comprehensive overview and be available to answer any questions about the various programs, resources, and funding mechanisms available to WSU Researchers, students, and regional entrepreneurs to support talent development and the advancement of innovations and technologies in the defense and national security sectors.

About guest speaker, Marvin D. Yates, Sr., MBA, PMP:

Marvin D. Yates, Sr. is a lifelong Detroit area resident, except for a 3yr. stay in Washington DC, when he first began his career in the Department of Defense. Mr. Yates has a varied career spanning 30 years working in various IT project management roles for Ford Motor Co, the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), and Section Chief for Internal Use Software (IUS) and Internal Controls. While with DIA, Marvin returned to Detroit and began work with ProsperUS Detroit as an Instructor in their Entrepreneurship Training Program in 2016. For the last seven years, he has assisted entrepreneurs in business plan development, and all phases of business start-up, management, operations and provides ongoing mentorship.

As Regional Engagement Principal – Michigan with NSIN, Marvin works with Small Business, Entrepreneurs, University Researchers, Venture Capitalists, talent, and other resources, to solve Department of Defense problems and encourage a pathway for Careers and engagement for these resources with the U.S. Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community.

The Office for Technology Transfer and Commercialization (OTTC) team seek to advance innovative business and technology practices originating from Wayne State University research toward real-world impact while also creating meaningful engagements with industrial, corporate and nonprofit collaborators. WSU OTTC is responsible for the identification, protection, marketing and licensing of intellectual property developed by WSU faculty and staff, as well as corporate research alliances.
