Recent legislation in the Michigan State Senate is attacking your right to vote! Proposed bills SB 285, 303 and 304 all contain provisions that would make casting your vote in Michigan more difficult. These are only three bills of a much larger package aimed at changing elections in Michigan. Using the same tactics we have seen in Georgia and Texas, these bills will almost certainly prevent many citizens from having their vote counted if they are enacted into law.

What would these bills change? How will they affect voters like you? And how do we as advocates work to ensure everyone is able to vote? The Wayne State University Voting Rights & Election Law Society and the Social Work Student Alliance (SWSA) invite you to learn the answers to these questions as we host Protect Your Vote: A Closer Look at Voter Suppression Legislation in Michigan.

Protect Your Vote offers attendees the opportunity to hear voting advocates from different professions directly address voter suppression in Michigan. Esteemed panelists include Senator Stephanie Chang, prolific Detroit organizer Gabriela Santiago-Romero, and Jamie Lyons Eddy from Voters, Not Politicians. Don’t miss this essential conversation and learn how to stop these attacks on our democracy!
