Non-Executive Position – Election Packet Info for Fall 2014
Dear Prospective Candidate:
If you are interested in running for a position on the Student Bar Association Student Board of Governors (SBG) please visit the SBG TWEN site to download and print an election packet or the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) to pick up an election packet.
Enclosed in the 2014 Fall Election Packet for Non-Executive Board Positions, you will find the Candidacy Petition Form. The Rules of the Student Board of Governors require you to obtain twenty-five (25) signatures of Association members who are constituents of the office for your name to appear on the ballot. For example, if you seek candidacy for Second-Year Day Governor, you may only collect signatures from day students from your year. Conversely, if you seek candidacy for Governor-at-Large, any student may sign your Form.
Please submit the Form with the appropriate number of signatures by Friday, August 29, 2014. You may submit a petition to the Office of Student Affairs, located on the first floor of the Law School, Room 1255.
The following positions are available for this election:
Two (2) Governors-at-Large
Two (2) First-Year Day Governors – Section 1
Two (2) First-Year Day Governors – Section 2
Two (2) First-Year Evening Governors
The SBG Rules permit eligible Association members – current Wayne Law students – to become a candidate for two (2) offices during the same election. If you choose to run for two offices, please submit a Candidacy Petition Form for each office for which you seek candidacy.
The SBG Elections Committee will hold the Fall Election on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, and Thursday, September 4, 2014. The Elections Committee will announce the election results on Friday, September 5, 2014. If your election is successful, please be prepared to attend the SBG meeting on September 17, 2014, held at 8:30PM in the Damon J. Keith Center (Room 2242).
If elected, you are expected to make your best effort to attend all regular SBG meetings (generally held every other Wednesday at 8:30PM) and assist with SBG events. Please see the attached sheet for an idea of when and how often SBG events happen.
