As the digital world evolves, law firms and corporations are relying more heavily on social media, and new questions have arisen surrounding the legality of improper social media usage and unclear ownership.

Come join Arts, Communications, Entertainment & Sports (ACES) and Information Technology (IT) Law Sections of the State Bar of Michigan in an open forum style discussion addressing, from a legal perspective, Twitter and hashtag hijacking, authentication, online identity theft and fraud, personal and professional brand protection, digital asset management, as well as an overview of Michigan publicity rights.

Thomas Doty, Esq, LLM. – Director Intellectual Asset Protection, NuStrategies, LLC. -- Mr. Doty defines his last few years as a cyber evangelist, with a continuing speaking and advising schedule covering legal, ethical and technical issues of trusted third party vendors. 

Jeffrey Richardson, Senior Attorney, Miller Canfield – Mr. Richardson advises multinational clients in the information technology and defense sectors on matters including mergers and acquisitions, distribution agreements, and strategic corporate structuring.

Joellen Shortley, Deputy Corporate Counsel for Oakland County – A majority of her practice focuses on advising the County’s Information Technology Department on legal matters and negotiating and drafting complex information technology agreements for system implementation, software development, security and professional services.
