Transitions 2.0

Our annual Transitions events have always been about Wayne State working with our community college partners to support students and ensure their success.  With Transitions 2.0, we not only focus on identifying challenges and developing solutions to support transfer students but will do so by providing participants with engaging professional development experiences.

WSU is sponsoring a full-day immersion design to leverage the design thinking process to support faculty, staff, and administrators identify opportunities to address barriers to student success. Participants will learn tools they can take back to their campuses or academic unit to help drive change.  Specifically, the 2019 Transitions 2.0, participants will:

  • Understand the benefits of using Human-Centered Design strategies;
  • Use design thinking tools to look holistically at transfer student needs and move beyond single point solutions;
  • Gain a better understanding of transfer student motivations, needs, and behaviors through the lens of the student journey to discover new opportunities;
  • Identify opportunities to better meet transfer student needs and support student success;
  • Identify key partnership opportunities within and between schools; and
  • Create an actionable case for further exploration at Wayne State University and partnering institutions.

Registration and continental breakfast begin at 8 a.m. in the Student Center Building.  Lunch will also be provided.
