The College of Education will launch its inaugural Teacher Education Summer Bridge Program “Next Gen Teachers” July 8-19, 2019. The initiative is a free two-week, non-residential program targeting underrepresented high school sophomores and juniors who are interested in the teaching profession.

Participants will learn about the benefits of a career in teaching, experience academic advising, attend success coaching sessions, participate in a group project, and explore resources offered to students on Wayne State’s campus. Those who finish the program successfully will be eligible for a $500 Raise.Me scholarship upon their eventual admittance to the College of Education.

Applicants must:

  • Be completing their sophomore or junior year in high school
  • Have an interest in becoming a certified K-12 teacher
  • Have an interest in attending the College of Education at Wayne State for undergraduate studies
  • Have earned a minimum grade point average of 2.5

The application deadline is June 21, 2019. Visit to apply.

If you know a high school student who is interested in exploring a career in education, please share this information about this new dynamic program with him/her.
