Title: Etale cohomology of algebraic varieties over the maximal cyclotomic extension of a number field

Abstract: Let k be a finite field extension of Q and K be the maximal cyclotomic extension of k, which is obtained by adjoining all roots of unity to k.  Let X be a smooth projective variety over k.  Building on work of Ribet on H^1 and Roessler-Szamuely for general odd degree cohomology, we consider the case of even degree etale cohomology of X over an algebraic closure of k and its fixed part by the absolute Galois group of K.
