Lunches with Leaders is an Honors College luncheon series for students featuring conversations with faculty and community leaders. 

Dr. Patricia Wren is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Public Health in the College of Liberal Art and Sciences.  That’s quite an accomplishment for the girl from the eastside of Detroit whose dad famously said he would never pay for college because “she would get married and waste her education.”  Left to figure it out on her own, Dr. Wren charted a less-than-straight road to her professional career.  Now after earning five college degrees – with only one in public health – she has a powerful message for first generation college students, students who wonder if they are in the correct major, and those who might be unsure of how to achieve their personal and career goals in a time of pandemic.
