Jonathan Gruber: Time to reform health care reform?

Dr. Jonathan Gruber is the Ford Professor of Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Dr. Gruber was a key architect of Massachusetts’ ambitious health care reform in 2006 and an inaugural member of the main implementing body. He served as a technical consultant to the Obama Administration and worked with both the Administration and Congress to help craft the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. In 2011 he was named “One of the Top 25 Most Innovative and Practical Thinkers of Our Time” by Slate Magazine. In both 2006 and 2012 he was rated as one of the top 100 most powerful people in health care in the United States by Modern Healthcare Magazine. Dr. Gruber received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2020.
Dr. Gruber is the author of Public Finance and Public Policy, a leading undergraduate text, Health Care Reform, a graphic novel, and Jump-Starting America: How Breakthrough Science Can Revived Economic Growth and the American Dream (with Simon Johnson).
Dr. Gruber will present "Time to Reform Health Care Reform?" on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at 12:30pm, on the 11th anniversary of passage of the Patient Protection and the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
More than a decade after the passage of the ACA, the Biden administration is facing the greatest challenge to public health and delivery of health care in the US. Can the ACA be reformed to reflect changing needs? Does the ACA provide a good foundation for what lays ahead for our health care system? Dr. Gruber is the foremost expert in addressing these issues.
