Title: Mean-field equations of state in hadronic transport and beyond

Abstract: In the first part of this talk, I will present a relativistic, parameterizable EOS of dense nuclear matter and its implementation in hadronic transport code SMASH, where the behavior of nuclear matter can be simulated in a number of scenarios, including evolution in the vicinity of a critical point of a high-temperature, high-density phase transition.

In the second part of the talk, I will describe how cumulants of net baryon number can be used to study thermodynamic quantities such as the speed of sound of dense nuclear matter, and I will discuss what we can infer from existing measurements.
