Join Lambda Kappa Sigma Pharmacy Fraternity and Dr. Regina McClinton, PharmD, CSP, for our Hygeia Day presentation, where we will be exploring the topics of health disparities and how pharmacy staff can address them in their practice.

After attending, guests should be able to:

  • describe health disparities and how they present in a pharmacy environment;
  • implement strategies in pharmacy practice to decrease health disparities;
  • apply methods to increase cultural competency and awareness when interacting with marginalized patients impacted by health inequities; and
  • implement strategies to combat systemic racism within pharmacy practice.

Guests can attend in person at the Wayne State Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, 259 Mack Ave., Detroit, or via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent after registration is received.

CE credit
This lecture will qualify for 1-hour live CE credit for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Cost of CE credit for pharmacists is $10 and $7 for pharmacy technicians. Once payment is received, you will be emailed a link to LecturePanda for credit processing and handout. Payment for CE credits will be by check (address below) and Venmo (@LKSWAYNESTATE) before the presentation or cash, check, and Venmo at the door.

Implicit bias training This presentation will fulfill 1 hour of LARA required implicit bias training for health care professionals. If renewing your health care license this summer in 2022, you only need 1 hour of training. If renewing in 2023,  you will need 1 hr of training per year of relicense cycle, thus 2 hrs of training. To fulfill LARA requirements, you will need to complete both pre- and post-program tests. Qualtrics links will be sent to you after registration and the program to fulfill these requirements. Cost of this program is $10; which is covered if you sign up for pharmacy CE credit also. If not requesting pharmacy CE, then you need to pay $10.

Please note that you may claim either the 1 hour live Continuing Education credit OR the Implicit Bias Training; Michigan LARA licensing does not allow claim to both. The $10 fee covers access to both LecturePanda CE and the Implicit Bias Training tests/certificate so you may decide at a later date which you would like to submit towards your license.

Project Hope fundraiser
This presentation is also a fundraiser for Project Hope, a group that does disaster assistance throughout the world including Ukraine now. All participants are encouraged to donate $5 or more; however, this is not required. Donations can be mailed (address below), sent through Venmo (@LKSWAYNESTATE) or paid in cash at the door.

If you wish to pay cash in advance, please email Emily Florence to arrange payment.
