The Office of the Vice President for Research is pleased to continue the Town Hall presentations on Core Enabling Technology Advancements @ WSU. This presentation is designed for WSU faculty, administrators, postdoctoral trainees & graduate students, and external clients of Wayne State’s research cores. Attendees will learn about significant advancements that have occurred in WSU’s research cores that bring improvements in their operations and provide new technologies that support the evolving needs of the Wayne State research community.

This town hall will take place Thursday, October 13th, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. via Zoom and will focus on new instrumentation acquired for shared use by faculty researchers and trainees. The town hall is free, but registration is required to attend. You will be sent the zoom link 48 hours prior to the event.

Presenting at this town hall will be:

  • Dr. Krishnarao Maddipati, director of the Lipidomics Core, who will introduce the recently acquired QTRAP7500 LC-MS Mass Spectrometer, a high-resolution LC-MS system for lipidomics.
  • Dr. Stephanie Brock, professor of Chemistry & adjunct professor of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, will present on the Lumigen Center’s TALOS G2 F200x field emission transmission electron microscope.
  • Dr. Boris Nadgorny, professor of Physics and director of the Magnetic Characterization Core Facility, will present on the newly acquired Quantum Design MPMS Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) Magnetometer, a magnetic property measurement system.

The town hall will be moderated by Tim Stemmler, Ph.D., assistant vice president for Integrative Biosciences.
