This event is in the past.
"Paris is Burning" presented by LGBTPiM and MedFlix
The LGBT+ People in Medicine Group (LGBTPiM) and MedFlix: Movies in Medical Education invite all students, faculty, staff, and alumni to a screening of Paris is Burning.
Paris is Burning documents the glamorous and influential ballroom competitions of Harlem's LGBT+ community. Through extensive interviews and recorded performances, viewers gain insight into the sustaining power of community, personal expression, and unconditional acceptance for a historically marginalized group.
Following the film screening, participants will engage in a group discussion facilitated by the LGBT+ People in Medicine Group and MedFlix. Food will be provided.
Full participation is required for Wayne medical students to qualify for two Clinical Service-Learning hours.
