“Fibrin(ogen) in acute liver injury and repair”

Abstract

Strong evidence links components of the hemostatic system to acute hepatotoxicity. This seminar will provide highlights of these connections, made over the last decade, and emphasize how the blood clotting protein fibrinogen participates in acute liver injury and repair. The seminar will include surprising new findings discovered using mice expressing mutant fibrinogen, and pose the question of whether we really know everything there is to know about this fundamentally important coagulation protein.
