Meet artist Quinn A. Hunter. Paradise: Myth of a Liberal North
This event is in the past.
Detroit, MI 48201
RSVP is closed.
Please join us for an amazing morning of performance, art and introspection with Quinn Hunter, WSU adjunct faculty and former Artist in Residence. The event begins at 10 am allowing time to peruse Quinn’s artwork before the artist’s performance at 10:30. We will finish with a casual conversation with Quinn. Light refreshments will be served.
The work presented in this exhibition, Paradise: Myth of a Liberal North lays bare the 1950’s displacement of Black America by focusing on the Detroit experience of red and green lining, white flight and divestment. It makes clear that displacement of Black Americans is continuous and systematic. Quinn’s performance and works reveal what was lost, reimagining what could have been and ask what could be next?
