The Michigan Center for African American Aging Research (MCUAAAR) is pleased to announce its 2025 Summer Mentoring Workshop for Junior Faculty focusing on African American and Latinx Research. The virtual workshop will take place June 4-6, 2025. Drs. Peter Lichtenberg, Tam Perry, Jamie Mitchell, Hayley Thompson, Kent Key, Annalise Rahman-Filipiak, and Carrie Leach are the program faculty.
The deadline to apply for the 2025 Summer Mentoring Workshop is February 28, 2025. This workshop emphasizes training in numerous areas including:
- Key phases of successful community-based research
- Applying for R grants and K awards at NIH
- Writing and receiving feedback on specific aims
- Working with Community Advisory Boards and Community Action Councils
- Navigating the academy as a community-based researcher
- Effectively communicating research results
- Overcoming challenges of community-based research
