Mini Symposium on Metabolism and Systems Biology and Neurosciences
11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All WSU School of Medicine faculty, students, postdoctoral fellows and trainees are invited to attend a mini symposium, which includes a free lunch, on Monday, June 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school’s Margherio Family Conference Center.
This event will focus on the thematic areas of Oncology and Metabolism and Systems Biology.
Symposium presenters are:
- James Granneman (Metabolism and Systems Biology): Multiscale analysis of ABHD5, a Master Regulator of Lipid Metabolic Networks
- Yubin Ge (Oncology): Targeting Oxoglutarate Dehydrogenase to Combat Chemoresistant AML
- Cristina Espinosa-Diez (Metabolism and Systems Biology): The Silence of the Strands: LncRNAs in Cellular Stress
- Izabela Podgorski (Oncology): Reprogrammed for Survival: Lipids, Metabolic Stress and Tumor Fitness in Bone Metastasis
- Krishnarao Maddipati (Lipidomics Core): Lipidomics for Mechanistic and Biomarker Studies
Following the presentations, there will be an opportunity for networking and discussions with Dean Wael Sakr, the speakers, and all participants from 2 to 3 p.m.
This is part of a new initiative launched by the dean with the goal to:
- Enhance collaborations and promote joint grant applications
- Provide seed funding for innovative and collaborative projects
- Host quarterly research mini symposia to foster dialogue across disciplines with an informal platform to learn about our colleagues’ research
This is a free event, but registration is required for lunch, which will be available starting at 11:30 a.m.
