Our guest speaker, Victoria Barriga, will present upon the physiological, emotional, and cultural health benefits of folkloric dance. She is a doctoral student of the Faculty of Physical Culture Sciences of the Autonomous University of Chihuahua and has over 15 years of experience in folkloric dance.

This is a new topic within the health field that is being studied in terms of the diversity of the benefits that this activity carries out. The importance of this activity is that it reinforces our love for our roots since folklore is global. Folklore is not limited by one age range, it is integrative because people with disabilities can also participate in an adaptive form within folkloric dance.

This event is hosted by Ballet Folklórico de Wayne State University and the Latinos in Medicine Interest Group.
