Write Winning Grant Proposals

This webinar will be presented online over 2 days: the first half on January 21, 2025 from 1 to 4:30 p.m.; the second half on January 22, 2025 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. This workshop is ONLY open to WSU faculty and current WSU postdoctoral and graduate trainees

Grant Writers’ Seminars & Workshops was founded by academicians, for academicians to help researchers obtain formal training in how to support their work with grant proposal writing.

This widely acclaimed seminar comprehensively addresses both practical and conceptual aspects that are important to the proposal-writing process. Emphasis is given to such things as idea development, identification of the most appropriate granting agency, how to write for reviewers, and tips and strategies that are of proven value in presenting an applicant's case to reviewers.

Participants are taught to write with a linear progression of logic, which leads reviewers through their applications. It is stressed that applicants are writing for two different audiences – the assigned reviewers, who have read the application in its entirety, and non-assigned reviewers who may have read little, or nothing, of the proposal before the meeting of the review panel. Strategies, tools, and tips designed to merit a fundable priority score are emphasized. The focus of the seminar will be on grant applications to a number of public and private funding agencies and foundations.

All participants will receive an extensive handout, as well as a selected hard copy Version of The Grant Application Writer's Workbook.

NOMINATION AND REGISTRATION ARE REQUIRED - Since the OVPR is covering the costs for the seminar, registrants must be nominated by a university official:

  • Department chair for faculty members
  • Faculty researcher for postdoctoral fellows
  • Graduate advisor for graduate students

Provide the name and email of your nominating official at the time of registration for verification.

Registrants will be sent a link to the Webinar training sessions the day before the event.

Registration will close December 13, 2024 (no exceptions).
