Detroit's First Historic Markers

You're familiar with the histoirc markers put up at local, state and federal historic sites.  Who decides what sites are worthy of historic recognition, and how do they choose?  Detroit's first historic markers were created in the early 20th century and located at 20 places around the city. They now reside in the collections of the Detroit Historical Society.  Join Detroit Historical Society Director of Collections Jeremy Dimick as he tells us the story of these earliest sites of recognition and how and why they were selected.  

Sciences & Humanities Under the Dome is a free public lecture series supported by the Rita & Stanley Levy & Ratna & Vaman Naik Endowment. We welcome all members of the community to join us in the planetarium for these research lectures!
