The Office of the Vice President for Research is pleased to offer the Research Development seminar series for WSU faculty, chairs & directors, postdoctoral trainees & graduate students, and administrators.  Seminars are free, but registration is required.

This seminar, NIH Common Rule – New Guidelines Affecting the Extramural Research Community, will take place Thursday, May 9, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. in the Margherio Conference Center, Mazurek Education Commons.

The effective date for the Final Rule on Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects (Common Rule) was January 21, 2019.  This applies to studies initiated on or after this date, and ongoing studies that voluntarily transitioned to the Revised Common Rule.  This seminar will offer an overview of the Revised Common Rule 45 CFR 46 and the NIH Single IRB Mandate from the IRB.  A summary of changes and how they will impact current and future human participant research will be presented.   This is an important seminar for all scientists who are currently doing or are planning to do research that includes human subjects.

Presenters are Monica Malian, R.Ph., director of the WSU Human Research Protections Program, and Heather Park-May, training coordinator for the WSU Institutional Review Board.

Please register for this seminar.  Should any changes be necessary to the scheduling of this seminar, you will be sent an alert to your email address provided at the time of registration.
