Digitalization Changes Everything

Abstract:

Why did half of the Fortune 500 companies disappear since 2000? Why are more and more industries disrupted? Why is the way we use technology in our daily lives changing so fast? Digitalization is one of the main reasons, and it changes everything. But how does it affect industry and manufacturing? There, Digitalization changes the way product come to life, it changes the way products are realized and it changes the way products evolve. This presentation covers how the Industrial Internet of Things digitalizes industry and manufacturing. We will explain the role Cloud & Edge/Fog computing is playing and which research challenges lie ahead and how Siemens is structuring its research activities and partners with Universities and Research Agencies in the US.
