You’re Invited to our 100th Birthday! A once-in-a-century historical exhibit to celebrate Merrill Palmer Skillman Institute in Detroit.

Evening reception in the atrium of the Walter Reuther Library, on Wayne State University's campus in midtown Detroit. View our exhibit charting the history of Merrill Palmer and its impact on Detroit. Light refreshments included.

Kyle Ciani, PhD

Associate Professor, Department of History, Illinois State University

Professor Ciani is the author of Training Young Women in the 'Service' of Motherhood: Early Childhood Education at Detroit's Merrill Palmer School (1920-1940). She specializes in the histories of women and gender across the Americas, with a focus on social justice. Dr. Ciani helps museum professionals diversify exhibition spaces, such as through the National Women's History Museum. Her most recent book is Choosing to Care: One Hundred Years of Childcare and Social Reform in San Diego, 1850-1950.
