Abstract
Dr. Xiaoyong Yang, of Yale University School of Medicine, investigates signaling mechanisms that govern metabolism in health and disease. He has pioneered the discovery of functions of protein posttranslational modifications in nutrient sensing, cell signaling and metabolic physiology. He will discuss how protein O-GlcNAc modification senses nutritional and hormonal cues and mediates inter-organ communication, and how its dysregulation fuels obesity and type 2 diabetes.
