Olúfẹmi O. Táíwò, Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Georgetown University, will deliver the Phillip Lawson Hatch Jr. Endowed Memorial Address. He will present from his ongoing work that addresses wide-ranging questions on varied topics, including racism, global inequities, and climate justice.

Professor Táíwò's theoretical work draws liberally from the Black radical tradition, philosophy of language, social science, German transcendental philosophy, Africana and feminist philosophy, materialist thought, histories of activism, and activist thinkers. Taiwo’s first book, Reconsidering Reparations, considers a "constructive" philosophical argument for reparations, and explores links with environmental justice.  His second book Elite Capture is a critical examination of elite co-optation of radical critiques of racial capitalism.
