Abstract

Optical imaging methods have become powerful tools in biomedical research since they can achieve both high spatial and temporal resolutions. However, most of the current optical imaging setups are either focused on microscopic (e.g., ~ 1 µm in spatial resolution and < 0.5 mm in penetration depth) or macroscopic (e.g., ~ 1000 µm in resolution and ~ 10 mm in depth) scales. There is an unmet need for mesoscopic imaging methods, which can visualize samples that are too deep for the microscopic methods to image (e.g., > 0.5 mm in depth), and too small for the macroscopic methods to resolve (e.g.,
