The Wayne State University School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education is pleased to host the upcoming workshop, “Therapeutic Horticulture in Social Work” presented by Carrie McCann, MSW, RYT, Certificate in Horticultural Therapy, Founder of Moonset & Co.
Therapeutic horticulture is the purposeful use of plants and gardening activities to promote well-being and improve the quality of life for individuals. In this interactive workshop, we will explore the many benefits of engaging with nature and the different practical applications for social workers. Whether you are new to therapeutic horticulture or interested in deepening your understanding, this presentation will provide insights and tools to integrate this holistic approach into your practice for the benefit yourself and for your clients.
CONTINUING EDUCATION: Three (3) Social Work Continuing Education Clock Hours (CECH) are available to attendees. Pre-registration for CE's is required via the RSVP form. All attendees seeking CE's must sign-in and stay for the full event duration. Attendees will be able to download their certificate upon completion of the event quiz and evaluation. Potting soil
Container for planting seeds (this could be anything from a seedling starter pot to a solo cup)
1-2 large plates or trays, and/or newspaper to catch any mess.
Water
Gloves (optional)
Large bowl
Found objects from nature
Bouquet of flowers (Optional as a supplement to found objects)
